Hi so that is 2009 behind be with several Jobs ! did not like last year, My dear dad dying and my dear friend and neighbour Angela ( and Bonnies most favourate person )also dying was not a great year for me. (oh Bonnies our dog!)

Still have a new Job as an accountant at Nutscene Ltd in Forfar, with great girls to work with.
In fact an all girl management team!!! I feel I belong for the first time since Omni.

Lorna got into Art school but by Christmas said it was not for her and too weird. She is still drawing and her webpage and shop went live this month www.lornasrt.co.uk or www.lornasprints.com.
She is still living in Aberdeen and comes home to see the cats and get her hair cut at Shear Beauty sometimes.

Lily is doing better after losing her leg. the little cat can manage to get around at amazing speed and still claim trees etc with three legs.
I hate that road should really start promoting www.kirrieroods.co.uk again
Lorna wants to take her to live with her in Aberdeen as she was hers, but Angus and I would really miss her now.

Angus is doing Computer Networking art college and Campbell is between contracts - his last one finished a couple of weeks ago.

Last but not least I am now a member of the Scottish WildCat association , they are our own endangered species please look at their site!

Not a good month I got paid off from laird holdings and it takes me until 13th April to get another Job.
That will teach me - should have stayed at Omni Instruments Ltd

January 2009 Remembering My Dad Mr Bill Davies

Sad news on 31st Dec2008 I was advised to go up to Caithness to say goodbye to my Dad who had become very ill and had been for some time.
He Sadly passed away on 2nd January and will be sadly missed, he was an amazing man not your average Dad and life was never boring with him around while growing up.He was a great Father.
Here are some extracts from his funeral service.

William Davies

William Davies, Bill as he was known to family, friends and colleagues was born in Liverpool on August 20 1922.

He left school and was employed as a Laboratory Assistant at Stretford Grammar School. He was evacuated at the start of the war with the school to Macclesfield. He was billeted in a chip shop which meant he eat well!

He got a job as industrial chemist and as this was a reserved occupation he was not required to join the forces in World War 2.

He studied at night school to get his Chemistry qualifications.

He was a keen photographer and took many photos in those earlier days( of his children) which he developed and printed himself. One of his photos of his baby daughter appeared in “Parents” magazine.

In 1952 Bill got a job as an Analytical Chemist at Sellafield in Cumberland with the Ministry of Supply (later to become the UKAEA) in the new exciting Nuclear Industry. The family moved to Seascale near Sellafield.

Bill was interested in electronics and used to repair radios for people. He built a TV using an ex-war radar screen and the family were able to watch the Coronation in 1953 on it. It had a 9 inch screen and was black and green instead of black and white! It could only get BBC.

Bill got his first car here. He paid £10 for and had to push it home. It was a Standard Big Nine and he had to rebuild the engine. It was his pride and joy.

In 1956 Bill was promoted to a Senior Experimental Officer on condition he transferred to Dounreay in Caithness to help start the new laboratories which were to support the Nuclear Test Reactors. His professionalism and dedication during the earlier pioneering days of Dounreay helped him and a colleague to develop the Davies-Gray technique for nuclear accountancy of uranium solutions which was recognised and adopted world wide by the Nuclear Community.

The whole family moved to Thurso in Feb 1957. Petrol rationing had just started because of the Suez crisis, so everything including car and furniture came up by rail! The family thought that they were going to the North Pole!

Bill was very keen on getting into the countryside at the weekends and was involved with both mountain climbing and canoeing. He would take his children for long walks exploring the local beaches and hills.

In 1962 he took the whole family camping ( children ages 16, 14, 11 and 1) for six weeks on the continent with two ridge tents and the family car (an Armstrong Siddley Sapphire). It was well before package holidays and was a great adventure for all.

Later on Bill and Mabel got a caravan and went away for weeks every summer going as far as Berlin one summer.

Bill was interested in anything technical as anyone who visits his home will know.

He always had the latest electronic gear, computers, televisions, etc. It is only since his Altizmers started that he had problems with understanding what he was doing which was sad to see.

Bill epitomized the stereo-type image of the typical British scientist - slightly eccentric in his manner with bags of enthusiasm for his current project, whether it be a home DIY or at his Dounreay work-place, but a more honest and truer gentleman you would have difficulty in finding.

He will be sadly missed by his family.

Christmas 2008

Hello again
Its that time of the year again!
This year has had so many highs and lows, I hope 2009 is more on an even keel - or lots more highs !
Where can I start!!
My Dad had to go into a home in the summer as his alzemhiers had made him hard for my Mum to handle, and after treatment for cancer in April his body was also very frail.d
He is in Pentland view home in Thurso and Mum sees him nearly everyday, my older sister Susan has been wonderful with them - taking Mum to the home most days and helping her our such a lot- (thanks so much Susan for that!!)
Losing two of our cats two was very sad I still miss them both , esp Terry who followed me around and helped keep my spirts up during the start of the year when things where stressful. You can see about them in previous blogs.

Now better tell you some of the Highs!

Lorna left school and is at Angus college taking Portfolio Art, after gaining 4 Highers and getting a special Art Prize at School. At present she hopes to go to Art School in 2009.
Her boyfriend Jack from London is staying with us at present, he seems a nice easy going lad, he has just turned 18.

Angus at present is doing New deal for Musicians through the jobcentre, this year has been a challenging time for him , but he has lost weight , cut his hair, wearing contacts and has braces to straighten his teeth. He looks very different than he did!!! he has even been going to the Gym!!

I have a new Job too nearer home , ( see previous blog) been very snowy this week though, still I hear there are road works on the way to Dundee , which is causing long delays. I Like my new job and travelling time is a lot less a day I gain about an hour more at home a day.
I can also get nice meat for Christmas from Angus organics (www.angusorganics.com)

Campbell reached the big 50 this year , he had bad gout on his Birthday though so we did not have much of a party. He is still working in Aberdeen , he works really hard and hasa long drive each why. Hopefully something new will come up for him in 2009!.

We have a new Kitten now just over 7 months, our first female since Stella.
She is really mostly Lorna's but she is a very pretty grey cat and I think she id going to stay quite small. She get on well with Nicky and chases him around funny since he is about 3 times her size!, Likes Bonnie too, but gives Alex a wide berth( he is the boss cat after all!).

Felix disappeared in the second week on October 2008, we had had him since a kitten and he was around 9 years old.
After putting a poster in the Co-op near our house it appeared he too had been knocked down on the Roods as his body had been seen at the side of the road by several people who kindly phoned to tell me.
Felix was a nice cat , he did not like our other cats much, but loved our dog Bonnie, and he lived outside most of the time, but come the winter he was usually found on my bed. So winter is not the same without him.

Left Omni Instruments for New Job 1st Sept 2008

Well it has been great working and Omni Instruments Ltd but the chance of working nearer to home was just too great.

I am now an accountant with Laird Holding in Memus ;-) just 10 minutes away from home, instead of 30+ and I am home 45 mins earlier too.

The job itself had more management accounts too, so it a step up ;-)

Everybody at memus is really nice, though it is a lot quieter not being in a room with salepeople, though I will keep in contact with everyone at Omni.

Hi everyone
As you know I am a great cat lover and in the around 18 months or so
ago very special cat called Terry came into my life with his brother
Nicki.
Since we have had him Terry became almost my constant companion always
there through some hard times I had recently and always lifting me up
when i was feeling low.
Athough I stll have 3 other very nice cats I also love very much Terry
was the cat that was always around me and even woke me every morning.
The sad news is the he was knocked down by a car on Saturday night. :-/
I have taken this very hard, I feel worse than I have when losing any
of my other cats in the past as he was around me all the time.
His brother keeps looking for him around the house too

Its that time of the year again

Its been an eventful year, 2007

Angus has passed his HNC in Music his Band A Silent Surrender have a small fan base in Dundee now and they are playing the Hive in Edinburgh on 15th December.
If you are brave and like loud Music look at his band
He now has to decide whether to follow in and do the degree course of stop at HND and start trying to earn a living.( That would be good!)

Lorna did well in her Standard grades with 7 credits and one general, she at present cannot decide between Art and English to study when she leaves school. She is presently doing 4 highers and doing well. She already looks a bit like a art student with a selection of piercings, in ears nose lip and tongue ( ;-#). Her and her long term Boyfriend Chris from Aberdeen split which was a same I liked him, but on the bright side she has a new boyfriend Jack from London ( yes I did say London he comes up on the mega bus every few weeks) and I like him too, though they are very different

Campbell is contracting in Aberdeen at present and working hard. He will be 50 in February - would you believe it? I have known him since he was 23!

Think he would rather have a boat than do computer programming, but he has just bought be a new Punto so will have to work hard for a while yet ;-).

We all went to Portugal in October which was fun and Angus's first time abroad. It was fun.

I had a very busy year as you can see from the rest of my blog. went to OZ, US, Passed my exams and became accepted as a MAAT by the AAT,

Our 2 youngest cats Nicki (tabby and white) and Terry(black and white) are now over a year old and Alex (black) keeps them in there place, Felix ( guess) still not sure of them especially Nicki as he is not afraid of him. They all love Bonnie of course !!

Hi there

Back from my travels and Jet lagged (again) why do I always feel worst on the way back!

It was nice to meet Wayne and Leanne and they looked after me very well, lots of good food and wine after a hard day at work!

Trained Susan( see photo) on Mamut and she help me get the accounts up-do-date.

What is it about salesman they never keep accounts up-to-date!!!

I'm sure she'll learn to love Mamut as much as me ;-}.

Back and still Jet lagged, you would not have wanted to cross me over the weekend, you should feel sorry for Campbell (hes my hubby of over 20yrs, but all but Wayne knows that) , as he got the bunt of my bad temper caused by jet lag, still he must have forgiven me he brought me chocs to welcome back.

Richard and April are well, Richard a little stressed as usual.

Turnover for the first year look like it will reach $300,000 by the End of Sept 2006, Congratulations to Richard on that.

Richard has been so busy, he forgot to do most of his accounts, but he did all the sales, hence Jim sending me over. They are pretty up to date now, but Richard is hoping to get some part-time help to ensure it does not get so behind again.

April arranged my free time and had a great time eating and shopping mainly (-:

It was interesting visiting Richard, Templeton is very different from Kirriemuir even though they have similar amount of residents. Both have there good and bad points.

Templeton & US good points

Warm weather, cheap clothes, great and cheap to eat out , great near the sea, people very friendly.

Bad points

Bad roads, too may cars -you drive everywhere, no decent Bread/milk, water nasty, no pubs, can get too hot & too long a flight to get there.

Kirriemuirs good points

Own house/bed and family/assorted pets, great cup of tea/toast, nice pubs, pretty town, great walks, live music every weekend.

Bad points

To many pubs (can be more like the wild west than US!), not many shops, no youth club.

Anyway better get back to proper work now !!!
